Nalanda awards Sorigué for its sustainability commitment
This award recognises the Supplier Approval Service which ensures social responsibility principles are baked into all stages of the company’s value chain.
This May, Nalanda Global held its SMART HSE event in Madrid, a meeting where 450 leaders in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and Compliance gathered to unpack the impact of AI and other technologies on achieving excellence in prevention and sustainability.
At the event, Nalanda, an organisation specialising in risk management and supplier compliance, presented the awards in which Sorigué was singled out in Sustainability for its decision to roll out its Supplier Approval Service.
The award noted that it has been a lengthy commitment over time in which several of the company’s departments have been involved with special mention of the engagement of the Corporate Social Responsibility and Compliance Department.
Meanwhile, Etosa was recognised as the Best Health and Safety Project, Acciona for its contributions to Innovation, Dominion as a company with Best Practices and Telefónica for its commitment to all-round OSH. A special prize for Efficient Coordination was also awarded to Alcampo, Ikea and Makro.
Sorigué’s Code of Ethics
The Sorigué group’s Code of Ethics was drawn up as part of its commitment to ethics and good governance and includes a code of conduct for suppliers and partners with the primary goal of ensuring social responsibility principles are hardwired into all stages of the company's value chain.
Sorigué insists on accountability, transparency and support for the local community in its supply chain. It therefore audits suppliers on aspects concerning occupational health and safety, environmental management and corporate social responsibility. It also encourages purchases from local suppliers to foster the economic growth of the areas in which it operates.
When these suppliers with a negative impact fail to achieve a specific score, Sorigué undertakes to terminate the contract. If the score is a little higher, it works with them to improve and bring them up to the group’s standards.
