Sorigué steps up its presence in Madrid with new actions in urban spaces

May 6, 2024

The group is tasked with the upkeep of urban infrastructures, buildings, facilities and public roads for Madrid City Council, extending its presence to 14 districts in the city.

Sorigué is continuing to cement its presence in Madrid by securing new framework agreements, a type of contract it has been performing more and more since 2015 for Madrid City Council.

The 2022 Contracts Register Report by the Council’s Directorate General for Procurement and Services says the group and its company Acsa ranked second in the city services sector by number of contracts awarded in 2022.

In total, it has won 144 contracts in this period for an amount of €25.5 million, a figure that is up by more than €5 million compared to 2021.

Public road renovation

It has recently kicked off the framework agreement concerning Lot 6 for road upgrading and accessibility improvement projects for Madrid City Council’s Works and Facilities Department, which covers the districts of Ciudad Lineal, Hortaleza, San Blas-Canillejas and Barajas.

Work is also beginning on Lot 1 of the framework agreement for implementing dissuasive urban development measures for the Department's building projects in the Centro, Tetuán, Chamberí, Fuencarral-El Pardo and Moncloa-Aravaca districts.

The works include renovating and upgrading pavements and pedestrian walkways, reorganising intersections and removing architectural barriers in these nine districts in the city.

The amount awarded for the two framework agreements comes to around €50 million over the next four years including extensions.

Sorigué in Madrid

With these new awards, Sorigué, which turns 70 in 2024, is continuing to grow in Madrid, a region in which it has been operating for almost four decades. The group’s long-standing relationship in this region has led to major contract awards in lots implemented via public tenders.

The group is currently operating in 14 of the city’s 21 districts under contracts based on framework agreements. Its extremely diverse activities range from renovating and upgrading streets, squares and parks to refurbishing schools, sports facilities and municipal buildings.

Sorigué also delivers comprehensive maintenance of buildings and facilities for local and national clients in Madrid. It has recently kicked off end-to-end maintenance and support services for events at the Matadero site and in landmark buildings such as the Spanish Senate and the Casa de la Panadería in Plaza Mayor. Other services in the Spanish capital include buildings in the Ministries of Justice, Agriculture and Equality.
