Sorigué gives laptops to the Exit Foundation to ensure online employment guidance for young people

June 30, 2020

The health crisis has shown that access to digital resources is essential for the continuation of learning activities. Sorigué offers training and job opportunities through its waste management and gardening sectors for young people through the Exit Foundation.

Barcelona, 30 June 2020 - Sorigué donates 20 laptops to the Exit Foundation, reaffirming the company’s commitment to developing talent and economic growth through training and the creation of quality employment.

The laptops given to the foundation will help train young, vulnerable people in Barcelona and Madrid who are participating in the new guidance project set up by the company to respond to the situation caused by the health crisis.

In light of this, the Exit Foundation has developed an online training programme that presents employment alternatives to catering and retail, sectors that have been severely affected by the crisis. Through collaboration with companies from the urban services, energy, telecommunications, IT, health and logistics sectors, among others, the group of young people has the chance to discover the opportunities that exist in the different sectors.

Online training provides the programme with continuity, however it requires equipment that is not available to all students. Therefore, Sorigué’s donation will provide the Exit Foundation with training and orientation sessions, and provide computer equipment to ensure that the young people can continue their training. This also acts to reduce the social inequality caused by the digital gap.

According to UNESCO, in Spain it is estimated that around 100,000 households are not able to connect to the internet, and that 43% of people without internet access are between the ages of 18 and 36. With regard to the Covid-19 crisis, it has been demonstrated that access to digital resources has become essential for the continuity of learning.

Sorigué has been collaborating with the Exit Foundation since 2017 through the Coach project, involving corporate volunteers from the company in the employment guidance process for young people, and through the eDuo project, offering Professional Certificates. Stemming from the eDuo initiative, Sorigué has now hired 20 young people through CLD, the group’s specialist urban services company.

For the 2020–2021 course, collaboration with the Exit Foundation has increased and gardening training has been incorporated through the company Ambitec. In other news, Sorigué’s president, Ana Vallés, is on the Exit Foundation Advisory Board, working together to seek emerging sectors with the potential to employ young vulnerable people.
