The Exit Foundation and Sorigué join forces to reduce school drop-our rates and improve the employment prospect of youth in Lleida
The Exit Foundation, acting through the Sorigué business group, is now conducting the first annual Project Coach in Lleida. Taking part in this initiative are nine professionals from the company who, for the next two months, will mentor 9 young people at risk, an activity that they will share weekly with an equal number of youth from the Salvador Seguí Municipal Employment Institute and from the Training and Integration Programs of the Lleida Transition to Work Plan.
Project Coach is a corporate volunteerism initiative aimed at socially responsible companies, which seeks to improve the employment prospects of at-risk youth by working with their orientation and motivation in such a way as to help them continue with their education and improve their prospects for employment.
The Exit Foundation trains corporate volunteers in coaching and mentoring techniques, which they later apply when working side-by-side with youth. The participants, ranging in age from 16 to 19 years, are referred by a variety of social and educational entities, based on a history of dropping out of school prematurely.
This is the second time that Sorigué has participated in Project Coach. It first participated in 2016, with volunteers from several of the group’s work centers in Barcelona. This year the company has expanded the initiative to take in Lleida, Zaragoza, Madrid and Sevilla as well as Barcelona. Altogether, 19 group employees have participated in the second year of this project.
Sorigué’s participation in this project reaffirms its commitment to sustainable growth by giving back to society, and is in line with its policy of corporate social responsibility.
