Sorigué begins remodelling inside of iconic Hotel Arts Barcelona
Sorigué has won the contract to remodel the inside of the iconic 5-star Hotel Arts Barcelona which stands at the entrance to Barcelona’s Olympic Port.
The project has been awarded for €59,700,000 and will be carried out over a period of 17 months in a temporary business association with Dragados. The work is to be done without disrupting the hotel’s operations. In total, 432 rooms and corridors will be renovated between floors 3 and 33 in addition to remodelling the meeting and conference rooms on floor -1.
The work will be completed without altering the building’s outer wall by erecting metal scaffolding 100 metres high and 16 metres wide to cover all its floors.
Sorigué’s Building division will carry out the construction to the highest quality standards with a meticulous selection of materials, furniture, furnishings and facilities. Its commitment to excellence will be a constant throughout the performance of the project by putting in place monitoring procedures to identify and remedy any incidents.
Innovative and cutting-edge design
Renowned architect Bruce Graham designed this building that changed Barcelona’s skyline. It was built between 1991 and 1992 at the entrance to the city's Olympic port for the Olympic Games, although it did not open its doors as the Hotel Arts until 1994.
Its unique design revolutionised the city’s urban landscape at a historic time of transformation. This glass tower in shades of green and grey surrounded by a white metal frame has 44 floors and is 154 metres high, the same height as its neighbour the Mapfre Tower.
