Sorigué renews its commitment to woods and trees at the Alhambra in Granada
The group’s Green Infrastructure business line has been entrusted with this contract which it embarked on for the first time in 2014.
Sorigué is starting up for the second time upkeep and improvement services for woods and trees at the Alhambra and Generalife in Granada for the Alhambra and Generalife Board of Trustees.
In 2014, Sorigué began this service for the first time and provided it for four years. From January 2024, it will once again be responsible for all indoor and outdoor greenery at the Alhambra and Generalife complex and in the Albaicín neighbourhood for a period of two years with the option to extend it for a further two.
The group’s Green Infrastructure business line has been entrusted with this contract which includes arboriculture work in pruning, tree surgery and selective felling.
The service also covers clearing undergrowth, forest regeneration planting, manual watering and automatic watering control, plantation fertilisation, plant health monitoring and plant waste management.
Sorigué is additionally tasked with cleaning and upkeep of outdoor areas at the Alhambra and Generalife, tending to furniture and ornamental components and controlling and managing wildlife in the surroundings.
Specialists in green infrastructure
All these areas have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO due to their historical and artistic value, which means the Spanish Government and the Andalusian Regional Government have an international commitment to meticulously conserve and protect them.
In Granada, Sorigué has also been involved in conserving green spaces and street trees in the Norte, Chana, Beiro and Genil districts. It has additionally undertaken projects to upgrade children’s playgrounds in a number of areas in the city.
