Sorigué welcomes students from the first intermediate level course in Water Networks and Treatment Stations in Granada for work experience
To train the next generation of professionals in the water industry, the group has set up an internship agreement with Cerro de los Infantes Secondary School in Granada.
The purpose of the programme is to train the next generation of professionals in the water industry in the assembly, operation and maintenance of water networks along with water treatment plant equipment and facilities, thus ensuring operability and environmentally friendliness coupled with the application of regulations and protocols for quality and occupational health and safety.
In the 2023/24 school year, the group welcomed a batch of 10 students who over a period of five weeks broadened their knowledge in two areas.
Firstly, they worked with the service connection teams to learn how to install new water supply and sewerage networks. Secondly, they went with the breakdown teams to find out how water network upkeep, maintenance and repair services operate.
The internships are conducted in the drinking water and sewerage network in Granada which Sorigué runs. In particular this involves the city’s historic centre, whose complexity poses a wider and more challenging scenario for the students to put into practice the knowledge they have gained in the classroom.
This agreement will roll over each year and enables the group to offer students valuable experience in a real working environment while also helping to build a highly qualified workforce that is committed to sustainable water care and management.
Promoting young talent is one of the cornerstones of Sorigué’s corporate culture. To this end, the group is proactively engaged in vocational training programmes and meetings which introduce young professionals to the industry and afford them the chance to grow and develop in the company.
