Sorigué brings its specialisation to renovating Tarragona’s water supply networks
The work is being carried out throughout 2024 on water supply networks near the towns of L’Ampolla and L’Ametlla de Mar.
Sorigué is once again bringing its expertise to repairing and maintaining water networks. Between May and December 2024, the group will replace and repair some of the main and secondary water mains in Tarragona province.
These works for the Aigües de Tarragona Consortium (CAT) have a positive impact on the distribution of drinking water to towns and villages in Tarragona province, including its capital.
This project includes four interventions on CAT’s main pipeline in the towns of l’Ampolla and l’Ametlla de Mar in which sections of pipe 6.2 metres long and 1600 mm in nominal diameter (ND) are to be replaced.
Repairs are also being made to seven sections of pipe in CAT’s Secondary Main in the municipality of Tarragona, each with an approximate length of over 6 metres and 800 mm in ND.
The project includes civil engineering works, excavation, demolition and data collection to build and adjust the joint strips between the current sections and the new pipelines.
The upstream pipeline is to be shut down during the interventions so a high degree of commitment and professionalism is essential to keep to the time intervals available.
Sorigué is also entrusted with removing the existing pipeline, carrying out hydraulic isolation operations, emptying and filling the section concerned, shoring up and installing the new pipeline and performing additional civil engineering work.
In Catalonia, Sorigué is tasked with maintaining the Ter-Llobregat network which supplies drinking water to over 100 municipalities. Specifically, the company handles preventive and corrective maintenance of drinking water treatment plants, desalination plants and distribution networks in the northern and southern areas of the Ter-Llobregat network managed by Ens d’Abastament d’Aigua Ter-Llobregat (ATL), a Catalan Government state-owned enterprise.
In Andalusia, Sorigué furnishes maintenance services for drinking water systems in Malaga and has also led the installation of new supply and sewerage connections in Huelva.
Another major contract in this region is comprehensive maintenance of the drinking water and wastewater networks in Roquetas de Mar. In Murcia, it is entrusted with the upkeep of the aqueduct, sewerage and stormwater drainage system in Beniel, Murcia.
In the Region of Madrid, Sorigué provides water network connection services in the western part of the Region. Together with Aquatec, it is also responsible for repairing and renovating the supply and regenerated water network in the Jarama System along with other services performed for Canal de Isabel II.
