The Sorigué group’s maintenance business will be responsible for fully maintaining the motorway sections in Barcelona. In total, it will manage 133.139 km.
The contract was awarded to the joint venture comprised by Sorigué, Comsa and Copcisa, who will manage and maintain the north section of the C-32 and C-33 motorways until 28 February 2022.
The Government of Catalonia was responsible for awarding the 8.4-million-euro contract (incl. VAT) for these two high-capacity roads, which to date have been managed by Abertis and will no longer have tolls as of 1 September this year.
Carrying out the work
The maintenance includes roadside assistance and supervision, maintenance activities and complementary work packages, along with scheduling, overseeing and monitoring.
It also includes removing the 4 tolls from this section (Mollet, Santa Susanna, Vilassar and Arenys de Mar) as of 1 September 2021, and adapting the 3-lane highways in each direction to replace the old toll booths, allowing traffic to flow through the existing cross-section.
The maintenance activities include earthworks, clearance and demolition works; restoring pavements; improving shoulders; clearing, improving and restoring motorway structures; improving verges or stabilising slopes, and clearing the area surrounding the motorway.
