Construction work on the road tunnels under Plaça de les Glòries between Calle Badajoz and Calle Castillejos in Barcelona.
Popularly known as Plaça de les Glòries, the Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes road junction is located in the Sant Martí district on the border with the Eixample district. Three of Barcelona's most important avenues converge here: Diagonal, Meridiana and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes.
BIMSA terminated the contract signed with the construction company UTE Túnel Glòries for the execution of the road tunnel works in April 2017.
Since then, the "Modified Project No. 1 of the executive project for the road tunnels in Plaça de les Glòries between Calle Badajoz and Calle Castillejos" has been updated to include both the work carried out until the termination of the aforementioned contract and the new part pending execution.
The work pending on tunnel 1 (Plot 3) comprised the civil works' section from the middle of Shaft 2 to the Claperós collector crossing at kilometre point (Pk) 0 + 552.5 and included the execution of underpass 3 under FMB line 1.

Technical data
The main structural elements carried out in this section of Plot 3 were as follows:
· Execution of partial shoring tubes for the L1 tunnel by driving 110 mm wide metal tubes. These tubes were then reinforced, concreted and post-tensioned.
· Underpass under L1 in reinforced concrete double frame structure and executed with formwork carriage in 3 m headways.

· Heightening of the central screen modules from the maximum excavation level to the roof level.
· Construction of 1 support (sea and mountain side) of level 1 of Shaft 3.
· Construction of the supports for level 2 of Shaft 2 within the scope of works.
· Laying of hollow core planks and construction of the compression layer on the prefabricated roof sections between supports within the scope of works.
· Construction of 1 support (sea and mountain side) of level 1 of Shaft 3.
· Construction of the supports for level 2 of Shaft 2 within the scope of works.
· Laying of hollow core planks and construction of the compression layer on the prefabricated roof sections between supports within the scope of works.
· Construction of the Shaft 2 and Shaft 3 counter-vault within the scope of works.
· Construction of the Shaft 3 emergency exits.
· Construction of the micropile umbrellas under the Barcelona Metro Line 1 railway tunnel.
· Construction of the provisional anchors to the ground of the Shaft 2 lateral screens within the scope of works.
· Construction of the Shaft 3 emergency exits.
