Adaptation and redevelopment of Paseo Profesor Juan Ossorio and Calle Profesor Adolfo Rancaño
With this development and landscaping work, a section of Calle Profesor Adolfo Rancaño and pedestrian Paseo Profesor Juan Ossorio will no longer be exclusively for University of Granada use and will become integrated into the public road structure of the city.
Known as “paseíllos universitarios”, Paseo Profesor Juan Ossorio and a section of Calle Profesor Adolfo Rancaño will no longer exclusively serve the Fuentenueva campus of the University of Granada (UGR), but will be integrated into the city's public space. The readaptation and development works are part of the compensatory plan for the Granada Metro, as its route has divided the campus.
Both streets have been reinforced with this infrastructure that includes new empty conduits for the future extensions required by the UGR for all basic services.
Particular emphasis has been placed on telecommunications networks, whose lines have been modernised and dimensioned to accommodate future needs over a projection of up to 25 years.
On an environmental level, the gardens have been remodelled and equipped with a modern and efficient irrigation system. In addition, trees that were diseased or posed a safety risk due to their instability have been replaced. The old lighting has also been replaced by a much more efficient state-of-the-art LED system.
