Ana Vallés, President of Sorigué, receives the international IWEC prize for female entrepreneurship

In Seattle, the group’s top executive was awarded the International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC) Prize for 2017, at the organization’s tenth annual convention.

Lleida, 15 November – Ana Vallés, President of Sorigué, received the International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC) prize in recognition of female entrepreneurs around the world, during the organization’s tenth annual conference held at Microsoft’s main office in Redmond (Seattle, Washington, USA).

Ana Vallés, who was nominated for this award by the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona, is the driving force behind Sorigué’s first strategic plan, driven by innovation, talent, and social return and the force behind the PLANTA project, an initiative that brings together contemporary artistic creation and business innovation.

The prizes were awarded as part of the annual IWEC conference held from 12 to 15 November, an intensive program that brought together some of the world’s most successful female executives.  53 women entrepreneurs from more than 20 countries were recognized at the tenth IWEC conference. Among those recognized were Inés Juste, president of the Juste Group, a chemical-pharmaceutical group that has existed as a company for more than 90 years.

The conference, titled “Connecting companies globally: accelerating growth through innovation and technology”, included presentations entitled "Doing Business in the U.S.", "Artificial Intelligence" and "Cybersecurity and Blockchain", among others.

Among the outstanding presenters were Yang Lan, owner of Sun Media, one of the biggest media conglomerates in China and ex-ambassador to the Beijing Olympic Games; Ibukun Awosika, Chair of the Board of Directors of First Bank of Nigeria; Melanie Alavi, Director of customer Technology Marketing for UPS; and Jackie Sturm, Senior Vice-President of Supply Chain and Innovation at Intel, among other female entrepreneurs.
