W Barcelona moves forward in its sustainability project and improves its recycling system together with Sorigué
The business group installs three new custom compactors, through its environmental services company CLD, at the iconic W hotel in Barcelona to improve its recycling system.
The Sorigué Group, through its environmental services CLD, has replaced the old compactors of the W Barcelona hotel with three new made-to-measure assets with the aim of boosting sustainability by improving its waste recovery system.
The CLD team visited the facilities in order to provide an appropriate and tailored solution before implementing the new machinery. The team identified the opportunity to optimise waste recovery, chiefly in the segregation of common and organic waste, as well as plastic, packaging, cardboard and glass.
Consequently, a more efficient recycling system was proposed, which began to be implemented in early 2022. The end result was the installation of three new, smaller compacters that are made to fit the facility.
A new development has been the design of a side door on the compacters to facilitate the loading tasks of the hotel personnel and to create a cleaner space.
The incorporation of the new compacters has optimised efficiency throughout the hotel’s entire recycling process. These improvements are reflected, for example, in the 50% reduction in the volume of common waste and the lower frequency of collections for this waste category.
The new measures have contributed to promoting environmental sustainability in the management of the W Barcelona hotel.
A differentiating proposal
CLD’s proposal is to offer a comprehensive waste management service. The Sorigué Group company offers a personalised and proactive service to the client, ranging from the design of specific machinery to the creation of its own signage or the presentation of a proposal for the layout of the space.
In addition, its service includes detailed information about proper use of the machinery and the separation of waste, which is further supported by tailored training for end users, in this case the personnel of the W Barcelona hotel.
The aim is to propose more efficient ways of working and to promote sustainable waste management.
