Sorigué participates in a debate on innovation in asphalts for infrastructures in Tarragona
At the meeting, the company stressed the importance of strengthening the links between the Administration and private enterprise, as well as enhancing the innovations already developed.
Sorigué’s Materials area took part in a technical conference on 26 July entitled “Trends in new innovative materials for infrastructures”, organised by the Tarragona Provincial Council, where it presented the solutions, it implements in the maintenance of infrastructures using innovative materials.
“We have developed materials from waste recovered from other sectors. One of our most established lines is also the production of cold mixes that allow us to reduce our carbon footprint”, explained Jesús Sánchez, head of Asphalts at Sorigué in Tarragona, regarding some of the innovations that the group is developing.
He also stressed the importance of working together with public administrations. “One direct measure is for the administration to support innovations that have already been developed. In this way, in addition to testing at scale, they allow for their subsequent consolidation. Once their performance has been verified, they can end up in the catalogues of the administrations themselves”, added Sánchez during the debate.
The round table was moderated by Elena Marrón, member of the Tarragonès Construction Guild, with the participation of Sixte López, CEO of Eifagge in Catalonia, and Jordi Altet, director of Quality and R&D&I of Cementos Molins.
New sustainable solutions
This technical conference addressed topics such as innovation policies in companies, criteria for selecting materials with which to develop new technologies, and European grants for the reactivation of the sector, among others.
This conference is part of the PECT project: ‘We take care of what unites us. Safer and more sustainable roads’, the aim of which is to develop innovative and technological solutions to minimise the use of raw materials in road infrastructure.
