CLD, Sorigué’s urban services company, updates its image to reflect its evolution

June 30, 2021

To coincide with its 90th anniversary, CLD is unveiling an evolution of its identity to better reflect the challenges of today’s market. The updated image also applies to its Hidrojet brand, the specialised technical and industrial cleaning company. These changes have integrated CLD and Hidrojet into Sorigué’s visual ecosystem.

To coincide with its 90th anniversary and its consolidation in the urban services sector in Catalonia, the Sorigué group company, CLD, presents its new image as an evolution of its previous identity.

With over 90 years in the industry and a strong presence in the Catalan market, particularly in Barcelona and its Metropolitan Area, CLD has redesigned its logo and its entire visual image in order to bring the brand up to date with the new market realities. In this transformation, CLD maintains key elements of its identity and original values while seamlessly establishing itself in the visual ecosystem of the Sorigué brands.

The differentiating values of CLD are encapsulated in its new image. Established in 1930 in Barcelona, CLD was originally structured as a cooperative, hence its Spanish name: Cooperativa de Usuarios del Servicio de Limpieza Pública Domiciliaria de Barcelona (Cooperative of Users of the Domestic Public Cleaning Service of Barcelona). Its new identity reflects this past while evolving with the current needs of the market.

The composition of the new logo is based on an allegory present in the letters ‘C’ and ‘D’. The way in which these letters are divided evokes a circle, alluding to the circularity of the service for which the company was founded as a cooperative nine decades ago: the collection and management of waste.

The rebranding work, carried out by the agency Summa, respects the elements that make CLD a well-known brand, especially in the city of Barcelona. In terms of colour, green has been emphasised because of its connotation with environmental sustainability.

From this new logo and concept, a visual system has been developed which has been copied onto the many mediums of the company. CLD will express itself through circles, once again tying in with the concepts of efficiency and sustainability. A special striped design has also been developed for the entire fleet of vehicles, which aligns CLD more closely with the Sorigué brand.

In addition, the rebranding efforts have also been extended to CLD’s specialised technical cleaning brand, Hidrojet. With over 45 years of experience, the company is highly specialised in the maintenance of sanitation networks and cleaning industrial and private facilities.
The new visual identity is reinforced mainly by the motion and shape of the new logo’s typography, specifically in the letters ‘H’ and ‘O’. The way in which these letters are divided, creating an invisible circle, are an allegory of the circularity of Hidrojet’s management and cleaning processes. It is also a graphic nod to the parent brand, CLD, whose logo also features this same circular motion.

In terms of colours, given the nature of the company, new blue and turquoise tones have been used to represent water and sustainability. The robust appearance of the typography is also relevant, as it highlights the company’s values of safety and efficiency.

CLD consolidates its position in Barcelona

CLD has been awarded a provisional contract for waste pickup and street cleaning in the western area of Barcelona, which includes the districts of Sants-Montjuïc, Les Corts and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. This new service, which will come into operation in mid-2022, will entail an investment of around EUR 65 million by the company to expand its own resources. It is also estimated that the current workforce of more than 1000 people will be increased by 600 employees.

This contract will ensure the continuity of the services that CLD has been providing to the city of Barcelona since 1930. Since 2009, it has been responsible for waste pickup and street cleaning in the northern part of Barcelona, which encompasses the Nou Barris and Horta-Guinardó districts.

It currently executes contracts in more than 50 municipalities in Catalonia and Andorra, serving a population of over one million people, making it one of the leading companies in its sector in Catalonia. It also offers specialised services to industry, as well as waste management and treatment.

During the healthcare crisis, CLD’s street cleaning and waste management teams continued to perform their essential work throughout the duration of the state of emergency. Its teams also carried out specific container and street disinfection work in Barcelona and other cities.
