Sorigué upgrades paving on Barcelona's seafront promenade
The group’s asphalt team has paved Barcelona’s Port Vell to upgrade the area close to the city’s beach and ensure comfort for local residents and visitors alike.
Barcelona has chosen Sorigué to upgrade the paving of the Barceloneta Promenade and several areas of Barcelona’s Port Vell to ensure the comfort of everyone who comes to the waterfront area.
The asphalting work, carried out by the Sorigué Asphalts team for BIMSA, Barcelona d’Infraestructures Municipals, a company attached to Barcelona City Council's Department of Ecology, Urban Planning and Mobility, seeks to ensure the paving of these areas is in first-class condition.
In addition to the Barceloneta promenade, Marqués d’Argentera Avenue, the Colom Boulevard bus lane, Les Drassanes Square, Palau Square and Els Pescadors Square have also been asphalted.
The roadways and pavements had numerous defects because they were old and heavily used. Besides ageing, the surface was uneven and had cracks due to fatigue and loss of structure while there were also problems in pavement components such as tree pits, covers and gratings.
The work has been carried out as part of the improvements being made by Barcelona City Council to get the city’s port facilities ready to host the 37th America’s Cup which is to be held in the Catalan capital from 22 August to 27 October 2024.
