Sorigué begins development works at the Army Logistics Base in Córdoba
The Sorigué group has taken on a project for the development and fencing of an 85-hectare site where one of the largest and most innovative barracks in Spain shall be built.
The project includes earthworks, road construction, sewerage, water supply and fire-fighting facilities, electricity and lighting, landscaping, an irrigation network and security and telecommunications pre-installations.
The works will also involve a perimeter enclosure with fencing, pipelines for the security facilities, lighting and a walkway. The site occupies a total of 85 hectares of land and is located in La Rinconada industrial estate, next to the A-4 highway, 18 kilometres from the city of Córdoba.
This contract, at a value of €19,039,423.59 (exc. VAT), is the first of a series of projects for the construction of this Logistics Base that the General Directorate of Infrastructure at the Spanish Ministry of Defence will put out to tender over the coming months, for a total investment of 351 million euros.
Digitised military base
The future base shall be named ‘General de Ejército Javier Varela’ and is intended to be a national benchmark in terms of digitisation, innovation and energy efficiency. The plan is for it to also serve as a logistics hub for the European Union thanks to its design, which is intended for developing robotics and artificial intelligence.
The logistics area will include buildings designed for software maintenance, calibration and testing, and the supply centre will include a large main warehouse with a surface area of 45,000 m2. There will also be a services area, with accommodation, canteens, sports fields, a museum, a healthcare area, a school and a heliport.
