Sorigué at Barcelona Resilience Week
On Tuesday February 14, we participated in the international forum titled “Barcelona Resilience Week”, which brought together individuals and companies from around the world to share ideas on how to contribute to the building of resilient cities.
The Director of Engineering at Sorigué, Andreu Iglesias, participated in a session on Water management responding to the challenges ahead, during which he explained the project developed by Sorigué on the Montornès del Vallès EETP, together with the Consorci per a la Defensa de la Conca del Besòs, to manage restoration of the Besòs River to generate plant and animal life. During the session, Iglesias highlighted the need to make plants more self-sufficient in order to encourage greater reuse of water.
He also mentioned that one of the biggest challenges for Sorigué is to achieve greater robustness in purification and sewage plants. Iglesias also stated that the outlook for purification systems indicates —as in the case of Montornès— adjustment of plants to include information collection systems and use of the resulting data to make progress and conduct planning.
Representatives from other water treatment organizations, such as BCASA and GWOPA, also participated in the forum, contributing their ideas on how to help overcome existing problems in water purification and sewage treatment.
The gathering, which was held at the Sant Pau Recinte Modernista, was organized by BCN Urban Resilience, UN-Habitat, and the Municipal Government of Barcelona.
