CLD inspects sanitation networks using artificial intelligence
At the request of Sorigué’s Innovation Department, the waste management company conducts a pilot with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to automate data processing during its technical cleanup.
Corporación CLD, the Sorigué company specializing in waste management, carries out a pilot in conjunction with the company’s Innovation Department that includes inspecting the sanitation networks using artificial intelligence (AI) in its Hydrojet technology, which specializes in technical cleanup.
Technical cleanup carried out with this technology uses laboratory vehicles equipped with robotic remote-controlled video cameras that capture images of the sanitation networks. So far, incidents have been detected and registered manually.
This new project uses artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to automate the processing of data collected by the robot in order to increase the number of meters inspected per hour, reduce the image processing time, mechanize and improve report generation, and standardize the knowledge acquired.
The pilot began in October. Once its technical viability has been demonstrated, it will begin to be used in its ultimate application.
“Artificial intelligence allows us to improve our technical cleaning service and increase our competitiveness thanks to increased productivity and the added value we provide to our clients,” says Josep Gibert, manager of CLD Hidrojet.
The inspection of pipelines is crucial for detecting cracks, sediment and debris, among other issues, in the sanitation and utility networks. The CLD service includes rehabilitation of pipelines using various systems.
Hydrojet technology is handled by a specialist team. The inspection and rehabilitation of sanitation networks has been carried out in various municipalities of the province of Barcelona, including Mataró, Vilanova y la Geltrú, Molins de Rei and El Masnou, among others.
