Improvement of the Interceptor Castelldefels WWPS screening system
Optimisation of the screening system to remove waste from the discharge pumps. An RCD2 type screening grate, CCD type channel penstock and CT type conveyor belt have been incorporated.

The project sought to improve the screening system to remove debris, mainly baby wipes, which would constantly clog the discharge pumps.
The work was carried out in conjunction with the station’s operations. In this way, the Interceptor Castelldefels WWPS has been able to continue sending wastewater to the Gavà and Viladecans WWTP.
The following equipment was installed:
RCD2 screening grate
Manufactured in AISI-316L stainless steel, with a width of 2,000 mm, channel height of 4,040 mm and useful pitch 40 mm. It is equipped with 10 brushes that clean the bars of the filtering part of the equipment with a high passing frequency, which prevents the accumulation of waste between the bars and decanted waste being discarded in front of the equipment.
The work was carried out in conjunction with the station’s operations. In this way, the Interceptor Castelldefels WWPS has been able to continue sending wastewater to the Gavà and Viladecans WWTP.

RCD2 screening grate
Manufactured in AISI-316L stainless steel, with a width of 2,000 mm, channel height of 4,040 mm and useful pitch 40 mm. It is equipped with 10 brushes that clean the bars of the filtering part of the equipment with a high passing frequency, which prevents the accumulation of waste between the bars and decanted waste being discarded in front of the equipment.
The operation of the grate protects the pumps against blockage, avoiding clogging and facilitating their nominal performance, optimising energy consumption, eliminating manual pump cleaning interventions and reducing maintenance or repair tasks.
CT conveyor belt
Made of AISI-316L stainless steel frame and a rubber belt, with a conveyor length of 5,000 mm and a width of 600 mm.
CCD penstock
Three penstocks have been manufactured in AISI-316L stainless steel (gate, stem and guide frame) with rising stems and widths between 1,350 mm and 1,800 mm, gate height of 2,500 mm and 4,040 mm manoeuvring floor. The sliding of the gate is guided by polyethylene runners and the sealing gasket is EPDM. The drive system is an AUMA all or nothing actuator system.
