Resurfacing with Fircolor technical asphalt at the Mas Solers estate in Sant Pere de Ribes, Barcelona
Resurfacing work on the reception area of the Mas Solers estate (formerly the Casino de Barcelona) with Fircolor technical asphalt. The project also included the installation of a new system for channelling rainwater, irrigation and electrical services using drainage ducts and trench piping.
The resurfacing took place over three stages. The first stage consisted of milling the entire existing paved surface.
In the second stage, lateral wedges were made with bituminous mixture (AC8 PMB 45-80/65) to create a sufficient slope for the correct drainage of the area.
The wedges were made of a mixture with a base of modified bitumen whose improved mechanical performance guarantees greater durability and reduces the potential for differential subsidence of the natural terrain as a result of heavy loads.
Lastly, in the third stage, the bituminous mixture was laid down after the addition of Fircolor Sauló, whose binding agent is composed of a honey-coloured resin to which a specific shade of aggregate is added. This enables the colour and behaviour of the natural sand to be emulated.
In this case, this material was chosen for its aesthetic quality and because its colours match the surroundings.
