Sorigué improves the drainage system in Barcelona’s Poble Sec neighbourhood

June 26, 2023

The business group has begun the installation of a new sewer in Carrer Vila i Vilà in the Sants-Montjuïc district for Barcelona de Infraestructuras Municipales (BIMSA).

Sorigué has begun work on the installation of a new waste water pipe in Carrer Vila i Vilà, between Plaça de la Bella Dorita and Carrer de Palaudàries in Barcelona’s Sants-Montjuïc district, to improve the area’s drainage system.

The work is being carried out by the group company Acsa, Obras e Infraestructuras in a joint venture with Vimasa, Benito Arnó and Mainsa for Barcelona de Infraestructuras Municipales (BIMSA), the municipal company of Barcelona City Council.

The project also consists of the execution of a number of specific works related to the new sewerage system. These include the connection of the lateral drains to Carrer Palaudàries, work to divert services and, lastly, the redevelopment of the street itself.

Characteristics of the work
On the one hand, the main sewer, with a diameter of 2,700 mm, requires the construction of a 650 mm diameter pile wall and a retaining wall in the existing sewer.

In relation to the supplementary works, it is worth highlighting the work to be carried out on Carrer Nou de la Rambla. This involves the demolition of an affected section of the Montjuïc Cable Car corridor, as well as the on-site construction of a unique sewerage and drainage pipe and the reconstruction of the corridor itself.

As for the redevelopment, work will be carried out on an area of 9,231.34 m², including the paving of 2,200 m² with granite and 4,240 m² with panot tiles, while the roadway will be finished with bituminous mixtures. The utility networks, IMI, groundwater, irrigation and street lighting, as well as landscaping, street furniture and signage, will also be implemented.
