Elastam is a bitumen emulsion made from a highly modified bitumen. It is specially designed so that breaking, the residual bitumen is incorporated into the bitumen mix. Adding modified bitumen improves the properties of the final bitumen mix.
Elastam is the emulsion incorporated into the Rugofir system. Its characteristics permit joint application with the hot spreading of an ultrafine layer of bitumen mix. The high elasticity of the residual binder applied at the right viscosity means the residual bitumen that binds with the mixture creates a much richer mastic,
which, as well as ensuring adherence between the layers, withstands both the stresses produced by linear traffic and the tangential and lateral stresses caused by turning wheels, thus increasing the working life of the wearing course. In addition, its impermeability makes it more resistant to frost and dirt. It is easier to clean and its SFC values are maintained, thus increasing the safety of the paving.
