The business group also took part as a sponsor in the 5th National Municipal Engineering Congress organised this year as a virtual event by the Association of Civil Engineers of Public Works.
Representatives from the Services and Materials divisions of the Sorigué business group gave presentations on several innovative solutions developed by the company at the fifth edition of the National Municipal Engineering Congress CIM 2020, organised by the Association of Civil Engineers of Public Works.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the congress was held online on 24 November. The organisation also offered a virtual trade fair experience, through which the attendees were able to explore the proposals of the more than 30 companies and institutions taking part in the congress. The virtual space is open to the public from 24 November to 31 December.
During the congress, opened by Damià Calvet, Minister of Territory and Sustainability of the Government of Catalonia, over 20 talks were given by representatives from companies and public and private bodies on the current and future challenges facing cities and municipal management.
The sessions were organised around four discussion topics: sustainable mobility, management of services, urban quality and applied technology.
This national congress, which is held every two years, seeks to improve municipal management, with a special focus on sustainability and the implementation of technological innovations in the field of municipal management, from the standpoint of materials, mobility and emissions and the use of renewable energies.
Cities with added value
In the first talk by Sorigué, Alfredo Bobis Rojas, head of Product Development in the Materials division, presented a new maintenance system for bus lanes on urban roads. The proposal encompasses a comprehensive innovative solution for the improvement of these roads, which suffer different problems due to their nature.
“Due to the type of traffic carried by bus lanes, the road surface wears out much sooner than other urban roads”, said Bobis during his speech. This is why the Materials division has developed a more sustainable asphalt surface that can be applied specifically to these roads.
Raúl Gómez Barrera, head of the Technical Department, and Eva Martínez, Geographic Information Systems technician in the Technical Department at Constraula, in the Sorigué group, presented the development of a specific technological solution for the management of maintenance in cities.
The experts presented the CTMan v2.0 software, created and developed at Constraula, the specialised facility management and urban maintenance company, and the Systems Department at Sorigué. This software allows for the optimisation of the management of contracts associated with the conservation of cities.
