Project executed by Sorigué is awarded the Smagua 2017 prize for the best water project in an urban setting
The jury for the first annual prizes awarded by the International Conference on water and irrigation recognized the environmental sustainability applied throughout the entire water cycle in Ca n’Alemany.
The projects, carried out by Sorigué in Ca n’Alemany (Viladecans, Barcelona) for the Urban Consortium DeltaBCN, along with the Rubau and Aqualogy companies, were awarded the prize for best Water Project in the category of Water Projects in an urban setting, at the first annual International Conference on water and irrigation, Smagua 2017.
The work carried out in the Ca n’Alemany district is distinguished the presence of environmental sustainability in all aspects of the water cycle, a goal that has been approached in a comprehensive manner and with systematic vision, in the opinion of the jury. In addition, recognition was given to the work performed in green spaces, including native wetlands vegetation and natural water purification, as well as the advantage taken of groundwater wells and improvements to agricultural irrigation infrastructure.
The prize was awarded on 7 March, during the inauguration of the 23rd annual Smagua Conference, part of the Zaragoza Fair. Awards were also given for works relating to the Siles dam intake on the Guadalamir River (Jaén), in the category of catchment and transport, and the adaptation and improvement of the wastewater Viveros de la Villa (Madrid) regeneration station (ERAR), in the category of Supply and Sanitation.
Sustainable urban development
The Sorigué, Rubau and Aqualogy companies, under the direction of the Simón i Blanco SLP engineering firm, were responsible for the execution of all works in the Ca n’Alemany district. The project, begun in 2013, included urban development of the district and the construction of a viaduct, carried out with sustainability criteria.
